What does the Q-Shield™ product do?

Q-Shield™ produces cooler and denser air and thus increases Miles Per Gallon (MPG) and horsepower.

How does the Q-Shield™ technology work?

Heat shields are applied to various parts of an engine including the complete air intake system (both hot and cold sides), turbo, compressor, manifold, and intercoolers. This reduces the temperatures inside the engine compartment, producing gains in performance.

What are the components of the Q-Shield™ Thermal Insulators?

There are 3 layers. Layer 1 is the outside. It is aluminized space-age material. Layer 2 is the middle. It is specialized, thick insulation. Layer 3 is the inside. It is superior, heat-resistant material. Iconel wire is applied on the bottom of the shields for certain engine components such as the turbocharger and manifold.

What temperature is the Q-Shield™ kit rated to withstand?

For typical truck and tractor applications, the Q-Shield™ technology can withstand up to 1000°F. We have Q-Shield™ kits for other applications, such as locomotives and GenSets, that are rated in excess of 2,000 and 3,000°F.

If my MPG’s improve due to a cooler engine temperature, do I still need your product if I live in a cold weather climate?

Our product works equally as well in cold or hot weather climates. Even if the outside air is colder, once it moves into the engine compartment it will be subjected to the excessive heat therein contained and will still lose oxygen content resulting in poorer combustion.

Does Q-Shield™ technology work with both gasoline and diesel engines?

Yes. We support all types of combustion engines, whether in a moving industrial vehicle, generator, or marine engine.

What kind of MPG improvement can I expect with Q-Shield™?

Diesel engine vehicles should improve between 10-20%, and gasoline vehicles between 20-30%.

Does Q-Shield™ reduce emissions?

Yes it does. Emissions are nothing more than unspent fuel. More complete combustion results in reduced unspent fuel thereby reducing emissions.

This process seems very straightforward? Is it really this simple?

Yes. If the air is hot, it is light, and harder to combust. If the air is colder and denser it combusts more completely and a more complete combustion delivers greater horsepower, less RPM’s and more MPG.

Can Q-Shield™ be applied to any type of vehicle?

Yes, Q-Shield™ can be applied to any type of engine regardless of engine manufacturer.

What if my engine isn’t listed as one of the types that you’ve previously done?

Once we understand the various dimensions of your engine, we design a custom made kit that can we send to you.

Are there any engines that don’t experience a benefit from the
Q-Shield™ technology?

There isn’t an internal combustion engine that will not benefit from the Q-Shield™ technology.

Will an ADG technician come on-site to install the Q-Shield™ technology?

Yes, depending on the number of vehicles involved.

Can I install the Q-Shield™ kit myself?

Yes. A manual is included in each Q-Shield™ kit that provides step-by-step instructions through the installation process.

How long does it take to do an installation?

Approximately 2-3 hours depending on engine type.

What is the lifespan of the Q-Shield™ product after installation?

Q-Shield™ has an indefinite lifespan as long as the shields are not mishandled, damaged, or treated with corrosive chemicals.

Does Q-Shield™ carry a warranty?

Yes, 2 years or 200,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Is Q-Shield™ a patented product?

Yes. U.S. Patent 6,510,833, 7,059,293, and patents pending in the U.S. and worldwide. The U.S. patent provides broad based patent protection to American Diesel & Gas, Inc. of it's Q-Shield™ technology.

Is Q-Shield™ available only in North America, or may it be obtained worldwide?

Q-Shield™ can be obtained worldwide and is currently in use in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
